Alan Henry

A longtime theatre fan, Alan Henry has been with BroadwayWorld since 2012 and currently resides in NYC. A native of Toronto, Canada - Alan began with BroadwayWorld as a Contributing Editor, before taking over as the Senior Canadian Editor. Following a relocation to New York, Alan is currently BroadwayWorld's Director of Digital Strategy and Regional Media.

Alan has had the pleasure of interviewing several Tony, Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar nominees and winners including Alan Menken, Idina Menzel, Lea Salonga, Stephen Schwartz, Louise Pitre, Jenn Colella, Victoria Clark, Montego Glover, among others.

Alan is thrilled to get to work with Broadway productions in New York and theaters across the globe to connect audiences and artists on BroadwayWorld's platforms. Alan also works with BroadwayWorld's contributors around the globe, focusing on expanding our coverage in each of our markets.

A company with 70 Tony Award nominations and 12 wins between them are gearing up to premiere a new musical, Sousatzka, based on the 1988 Shirley MacLaine film Madame Sousatzka. At the helm of the project, notorious theatre impresario Garth Drabinsky - who is making his comeback to 'artistic producing' following his convictions for fraud and forgery during his time as the head of Livent. Livent, of course, was once a division of Cineplex Odeon which produced the Sousatzka film before being bought out by Drabinsky and his then business partner Myron Gottlieb.

Yesterday BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that Carrie Fisher, best known as Star Wars' Princess Leia Organa, has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60. Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd which reads: 'It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.'
