TV: Broadway Stars Sing 'What the World Needs Now' at the Democratic Convention

As reported last week by BroadwayWorld Broadway and cabaret favorites Seth Rudetsky and Liz Callaway both announced on social media that they would be involved with a televised performance tonight, July 27th, at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Tonight they, among with many other members of the Broadway community performed "What The World Needs Now" at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia. The starry lineup included Audra McDonald, Idina Menzel, Ben Vereen, Darren Criss, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Rosie Perez Kristen Bell, Debra Messing, Richard Kind, Stephanie J. Block, Rosie Perez, and in a Cagney & Lacey reunion - Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless!

The song was recorded by Broadway Records to raise funds for victims of the tragic Orlando LGBT nightclub shooting. The song was performed following moving speeches from victims of gun violence including former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
