Different Stages opens its 2009-2010 season with Thornton Wilder's comedy The Skin of Our Teeth. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, this is the satiric story of the extraordinary Antrobus family down through the ages from the time of the war - any war. They have survived flood, fire, pestilence, the seven year locusts, the ice age, the pox and the double feature, a dozen wars and as many depressions. Alternately bewitched, befuddled and becalmed, they are the stuff of which heroes and buffoons are made. Their survival is a wacky testament of faith in humanity.

Directed by Norman Blumensaadt, The Skin of Our Teeth features a large cast. Playing the eternal optimist, George Antrobus, is Michael Hankin (Getting Married) and playing his practical wife, Maggie, is Bobbie Oliver (Lettice and Lovage). Amy Lewis (An Inspector Calls) plays the maid Sabina. Chloe Edmonson and Andrew Matthews, both new to Austin, play the Antrobus children, Gladys and Henry. Karen Jambon (Different Stages production of An Ideal Husband) plays the Fortune Teller. Robert Stevens (Austin Shakespeare Festival) and Suzanne Balling (Miss Witherspoon) play the announcer and stage manager. The cast also includes Steven Fay, Jessica Bacon, Joshua Bush, Jeffrey Dorman, Patrick Dowty, Philip Cole, Kelsey Head and Juanita Rivas.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. There is no performance on Thanksgiving Thursday, November 26. There is an added performance on Wednesday, December 2. Tickets are Pick your Price: $15, $20, $25, and $30.
