Today, Voto Latino's co-chair of its artist coalition and co-chair of the nonprofit's "I'm Ready for Immigration Reform" campaign, actress America Ferrera, headlined an immigration rally at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin in response to the "Catch an Illegal Immigrant" game, which has been cancelled after intense backlash from UT students and pro-immigration reform supporters.

Today's immigration reform rally denounced dishonest and bigoted attempts to have a conversation about our country's broken immigration system, and demand that the House of Representatives pass comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented living in America.

The U.S. Senate has passed a comprehensive reform bill with strong bipartisan support and a similar House bill is supported by nearly 30 House Republicans. The time is now for Speaker John Boehner and House leadership to stop blocking reform and a schedule a vote now as the votes are there to pass commonsense immigration reform this year.

University of Texas students were joined by actress America Ferrera, star of Ugly Betty, and co-chair of Voto Latino's artist coalition and co-chair of the nonprofit's "I'm Ready for Immigration Reform" campaign.
