William Zipper to Release Christmas EP, 12/20

Dutch electrorock artist William Zipper will release Christmas EP "Welcome to Glamsterdam" with his band "The Zipper System" on December 20, 2013. Compared to his earlier electropop works, this EP features a more rock orientated approach.

The EP serves as a bridge between the Revival EP (released last summer) and upcoming debut album (early 2014).

"It's the other side of me", Zipper says. "It's darker, more melancholic and features layers of guitars and distorted synths. It feels a bit like shoegaze at certain points, but there are still 80's drum machines... and synths".

Continuing: "One could argue that I should release it under a different name, but that feels like creative suicide. An artist shouldn't please the masses, it's a recipe for disaster", while noting that "if the album doesn't work out as planned, I have to think about another strategy; something I do as little as possible at the moment. I've got the tendency to over-think everything. The clothes I wear , the sounds I use in my music... It drives me crazy. I guess that's the influence of boy-bands and polished albums I grew up with. Everything matches. I want that too, but I'll never be like that. I am what I am. Welcome to Glamsterdam".

When asked about The Zipper System: "I started looking for live musicians, to perform my first EP. Me and the guys are live equally important, they deserve to be named and are a part of the product. They bring ideas and scratches of songs of their own to the table, we might include them in future releases. A producer would really come in handy with that".

William Zipper & The Zipper System are influenced by Bowie-esque theatrics, the 80's and bands like The Killers, ELO and Empire of the Sun.
