William Peace Theatre presents Jennifer Haley's 2008 play, NEIGHBORHOOD 3: REQUISITION OF DOOM, October 22-25, 2015 at Leggett Theatre on campus in downtown Raleigh.

The play takes on a controversial subject among parents: online video gaming. Some claim video games are too violent and desensitizing, some worry about the time their children spend playing these immersive games. Gaming advocates claim online collaborative games actually offer new socialization opportunities, allowing users to connect with others all around the world.

In a typical suburban subdivision, a mysterious video game called "Neighborhood 3" has become popular with teenagers. They spend countless hours teaming up in the virtual world to kill an everincreasing number of zombies and escape the neighborhood forever. It becomes more and more difficult to separate real from virtual, however, and as players lose track of their surroundings a growing horror emerges.

Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre and Theatre Amy White directs this production, last seen regionally at Manbites Dog in 2010. White has worked in professional theatre for over a decade, in New York off-Broadway and in touring productions. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance from the State University of New York at Fredonia, along with a MFA in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

This production features video and design work from William Peace University Simulation & Design majors. The "set" will actually be an interactive video backdrop that places the characters inside the game world.

NEIGHBORHOOD 3: REQUISITION OF DOOM contains stage violence, blood effects, and strong language. Not recommended for young children; parents should use discretion.

Winner of the 2009 Primus Citations from the American Theatre Critics Association which premiered at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
