The WHOLE BACKSTAGE THEATRE is proud to announce auditions for it's summer musical, "Annie Warbucks," Friday March 6th at 6:30PM for adults and Saturday March 7th beginning with children's auditions at 10AM and following with adults and children at 2:00pm. Sunday, March 8th will be used for callbacks if needed.

Picking up right where our record-breaking holiday production of "Annie" left off, Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks (Ken Patterson), a hard-nosed billionaire with a heart of gold, receives the troubling news that the law requires he marry within sixty days, or his newly adopted daughter (Laura Kate Smith) will be returned to the orphanage from which she came. It's then a race against time as Warbucks and his staff feverishly search for a bride, all while a stubborn Child Welfare Commissioner has her hand on the dial.

Written in 1993 by the team of Meehan, Strouse, and Charnin, "Annie Warbucks," will be sure to delight audiences young and old with it's memorable characters and show-stopping, toe-tapping tunes. It has become a well-received sequel to its predecessor, being a favorite of community theatres nationwide.

Directed by Diane Duboise and Christopher Carter, with assistance by Melissa Trebus, auditions will be held Friday-Sunday, March 6-8 at The Whole Backstage Theatre, 1120 Rayburn Avenue, in Guntersville. Audition materials are available at the Guntersville Public Library and at the Whole Backstage Theatre Adminsitrative Office. Performances are July 10th - 19th 2009

CHILDRENS THEATRE

For years the Whole Backstage Theatre has been the center of theatre arts in Marshall County. It's always been a place where people of all ages could gather without judgments or criticisms. Developed by Ms. Dot Moore of Guntersville, the Whole Backstage started as a teen club and has morphed into one of the largest 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations in the area.

This year, on its 40th Anniversary, the Whole Backstage Theatre will celebrate by reviving an age old concept that children are where the future of the Whole Backstage resides. Beginning in January, under the Direction of Kelleybrooke Brown, the Whole Backstage Children's Theatre will again open its doors.

The Whole Backstage Children's Theatre is broKen Down into three sections. Classes will be offered on Monday nights from 6:30p.m. -7:30p.m. for children ages 12-16 and Tuesday nights from 6:30p.m.-7:15p.m. for children ages 7-11. Children ages 5-8 will meet on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. -7:15 p.m. Basic theatre techniques will be taught including script analysis, character development, and stage presence. Each semester will consist of 10 classes (weeks) and will conclude with a performance that includes each and every student. The cost is $45 per month per student with multi-children families being offered a tuition discount.
