At a special event held at New York's 92nd Street Y, Melissa Rivers shared what it was really like to grow up with comedy legend Joan Rivers as her mother. Rivers also discusses her mother and her new book, The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation and shared funny, and poignant observations and stories about the blonde force of nature who raised her and who she called Mom.

During the event, Rivers, who serves as executive producer of E!'s FASHION POLICE, shared that she was distraught over comments made by Kathy Giffin, who took over hosting duties on the show but made a quick exit after only a handful of episodes.

"My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of s--- all over my mother's legacy in her statement on leaving," shared Rivers. "I know everything was so heightened and everybody was so crazy, but that was my takeaway." Watch the event in full below. Rivers' comments on the FASHION POLICE controvesy being at THE 20 min. mark.
