Veteran director and long-time member of the Brooklyn Heights Players, Bernard Bosio is at the helm of the Tony Award-Winning Comedy, "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" opening this Friday, March 31st at 8:00PM.

The highly-acclaimed, highly anticipated, and popular Broadway comedy by Christopher Durang is a production of The Heights Players

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, will be presented at the John Bourne Theatre as part of the group's 2016/2017 season, and runs March 31st through April 23rd, 2017, with Easter weekend going dark.

Durang, the renowned author of comedies such as Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You and Beyond Therapy, turns Chekhov on his head with this witty farce. Set in modern day bucolic Bucks County Pennsylvania, middle-age siblings Vanya (played by Gary Dooley) and (adopted) Sonia (Liz Bove) idle away their lives in their quaint family country home amid regret, angst, and the distressing prophecies of an eccentric housecleaner, Cassandra (Qianna Brooks). Enter their sister Masha (Meg Dooley), a self-absorbed movie star with her prized boy toy Spike (John Honey-Fitzgerald), who sparks a friendship with the beautiful girl next door Nina (Sarah Cheatham) and the stage is set for hilarity and the imposing doom of Masha threatening to sell the family home.

Director Bernard Bosio returns to The Heights Players to stage the laugh-inducing Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a homage to Chekhov's themes of heartbreak and hope. Company members, Marialana Ardolino will stage manage, Jessica Baird will serve as assistant director, with sets, lighting and sound by Alan Sporing. Albert Walsh (costumes), Cameron Macintosh (Sound Design), and Jan Vanderputten (Props) join the production.
