The deadline is approaching to apply for USITT's 2014 Elite Training weekend at the Cirque du Soleil Training Center in Las Vegas May 29-31.

Applications are being accepted through April 18. Apply here.

Elite Training is a unique opportunity for student and early career USITT members to receive tuition-free hands-on training with industry leaders in five disciplines: automation, rigging, sound, projection, and a new category this year, stage management.

USITT's sponsors providing intensive training on their latest tools include Coolux Media Systems, CM Entertainment Technology, Stage Technologies, Meyer Sound, Silver State Wire Rope, Nicopress, and, of course Cirque du Soleil, allowing backstage access and job shadowing on such shows as KÁ, Mystère, and Criss Angel BeLIEve.

Tuition is free for those selected for the program. Participants pay for their own housing, transportation, and some meals. USITT has a block of hotel rooms at discounted rates for the Elite Training class of 2014.

Applicants must submit a resume, skills/qualifications, and a written response to the question, "Why should you be chosen for this intensive training opportunity" Eight applicants will be accepted in each discipline.

Past participants have described Elite Training as a great resume-booster, "a spectacular experience," and even "three days that changed my life."
