Tony Winner Glenn Close to Join Cast of Upcoming Comedy BASTARDS

Deadline reports exclusively that Glenn Close is in final discussions to join the upcoming comedy BASTARDS. The actress will join previously announced cast members J.K. Simmons, Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, Terry Bradshaw and Ving Rhames.

Cinematographer Lawrence Sher makes his directorial debut on the project which follows "two brothers (Wilson and Helms) whose eccentric mother fabricates a story that their father died when they were young. When they find out the story is false, they make it their mission to find their real father."

Close will take on the role of Mrs. Reynolds, described as a "one-time wild party girl from the 1970s who slept around. She must also be believable as a woman with a big heart as the truth that comes out later is much more complicated."

Close most recently starred on Broadway in A DELICATE BALANCE. She won Tony Awards for her performances in Sunset Boulevard, Death and the Maiden, andThe Real Thing. She made her professional theatre and Broadway debut in Harold Prince's production of Love for Love. Her early stage credits include The Crucifer of Blood, The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs (Obie Award), the musical Barnum(Tony Award nomination), and Benefactors. She is a six-time Academy Award nominee for her performances in the films The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, and Albert Nobbs(which she also co-wrote and produced). Miss Close won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for her performance on the TV series Damages, and an Emmy Award for her performance in the title role in Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story, which she also co-produced. She recently completed filming on four features: Low Down, 5 to 7, Anesthesia, and the feature film adaptation of Marvel Comics' Guardians of the Galaxy.
