Tectonic Theater Project, the award-winning theater company whose works include Tony winners 33 Variations, I am My Own Wife, The Laramie Project, and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, announced today that Lauren Wainwright has been named its new Executive Director. Wainwright is currently the Managing Producer of The Foundry Theatre and will assume her full-time duties at Tectonic on May 6, 2015.

"Lauren brings an impressive set of experiences, skills and accomplishments that we are enormously excited about," said Tectonics' co-founder and Artistic Director Moisés Kaufman. "She has the drive, the skills, and the leadership abilities to help us continue fulfilling our mission to develop innovative works about the human, political and social issues that affect us all."

"I am thrilled to join Moisés, the Board and the staff at this significant time for Tectonic," Wainwright said. "This is a remarkable organization. The laboratory that Tectonic has created for the development of rigorous new works has impacted artists and audience communities alike, not only through the company's experiments with theatrical form but also by its creation of socially relevant plays that inspire. I look forward to contributing to such work that has defined Tectonic for the last 24 years."

Wainwright, a former corporate lawyer, received her MFA in theater management from Yale School of Drama where she served as Associate Managing Director of Yale Repertory Theatre, General Manager of the Yale Institute for Music Theatre and Yale Fellow at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. As an attorney she served as Vice President and Associate General Council at Goldman Sachs and, prior to that, as an Associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. She earned a BA in Classics from Wesleyan University and a JD from Boston College Law School.
