Opening Friday, May 22 (preview Thursday, May 21) at 8:00 p.m. and performing through Sunday, June 6 at the 78th Street Theatre LAB, The Secretaries, originally written and performed by the award-winning New York theatre troupe The Five Lesbian Brothers, irreverently and unapologetically explores the ever-expanding human fascination with sex and violence, the journey from self-improvement to self-destruction and the question of what it means to be “strong” women in a modern world. If Russ Mayer and John Carpenter were characters on “The L Word,” had a baby and moved to Stepford, perhaps that child would dream up The Secretaries.

A reception will follow the opening night performance of The Secretaries (Friday, May 22) at the 78th Street Theatre LAB and is open to the public. Complementary beer, catered treats and chainsaw disembowelments will be served.

Directed by Project: Theater Artistic Director Joe Jung and stage managed by Jacob Seelbach, The Secretaries features the talents of Karis Danish*, Laura Dillman*, Brian Frank, Tara Franklin*, Jessi Blue Gormezano*, Andrew McLeod and Jenny Schutzman. The production runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.

The show takes place on Friday, May 22, 2009 (Opening Night; Preview Performance on Thursday, May 21, 2009) at  8:00 p.m. – Curtain Up on The Secretaries. It will take place at  236 W. 78th Street (between 10th and 11th Avenues in Manhattan’s Upper West Side) New York, NY 10024.
