After a sold-out run at the 2015 Under The Radar Festival; The Deconstructive Theatre Project is proud to present encore performances of The Orpheus VariationsFebruary 4th- 14th These ten special encore performances will be presented at The 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street, between 1st & 2nd Aves) in New York City.

The production is conceived and directed by Adam J. Thompson and created collaboratively by the company members. Adam J. Thompson directs cast members: Jessica Annunziata, Jen Browne, Steven Conroy, Kathleen Piper Crosby, Amanda Dieli, Robert Kitchens, Arielle Lever, Matt Nasser, and Chapman Riedel. The production team includes Associate Director: Meghan E. Kennedy; Composer: Ryan Homsey; Live Media Design: Phillip Gulley; Scenic & Properties Design: Katie Fleming; Lighting Design: Colin Chauche; Costume Design: Sydney Gallas; Sound Design: Andy Sowers; Production Stage Manager: Dina Paola Rodriguez; Promotion: Ryan Davis. There will be some after show talk backs to be announced later.

Inspired by the Orpheus myth and the neuroscience of memory, The Deconstructive Theatre Project production of The Orpheus Variations collides cinema, radio play, and theatre vocabularies into an art-house film created and screened in real time.

Adam J. Thompson (director) is the Founding Director of The Deconstructive Theatre Project and a creator, director, writer, and producer working at the intersection of live performance, interactive technology, and neuroscience. For The Deconstructive Theatre Project, he has directed Moises Kaufman's Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, created and directed The Girlie Show and Brecht & Co., co-directed Lilies, or the Revival of a Romantic Drama, co-conceived and directed a contemporary cirque adaptation of Antigone, and conceived and directed the world premiere of The Orpheus Variations at the Magic Futurebox in 2012, following which documentary footage of the production was installed as a part of Um, Nenhum, e Cem Mil, a visual art exhibition exploring the intersections of art and science at Edge Arts in Lisbon, Portugal. The Orpheus Variations just closed a sold out run at The Public Theater's 2015 Under the Radar Festival. In addition to his work with The Deconstructive Theatre Project, Adam is a member of The Builders Association and the Associate Producer of the PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now festival. He holds a BA in directing and dramaturgy from Emerson College in Boston.

The Deconstructive Theatre Project is an eight-year-old hybrid media creative laboratory creating original works at the intersection of live performance, neuroscience, and interactive technology; conducting a cooperative integrated theatre in education program using the arts as a tool for teaching literature, history, and science in a series of charter schools for middle school students across New York City; and operating dtpE - The Deconstructive Theatre Project EXPERIENCE, a unique creative community-engagement initiative designed to include audiences in the creation of its performance work. The company has to date created six original works and has received local and international development and performance residencies from The Stuart Street Playhouse, Chez Bushwick, The Center for Performance Research, Middle Collegiate Church, The School of Making Thinking, Kunsthof Tangendorf, IRT Theater, the Magic Futurebox, Edge Arts, HERE, FiveMyles, The Public Theatre/Devised Theatre Initiative/Under the Radar Festival, and the Theatre at the 14th Street Y, and has performed in Boston, New York City, and the Catskills. The press has identified the company for "masterfully reinvent[ing] what live theater can mean for the individual, while illuminating the utter complexity and subjectivity of our own consciousness," and has called the company's work "so purposeful and...not only unique, but also innovatively reflective on the future of the performing arts."
