In this week's edition, we caught up with Celina Carvajal, who is starring as 'Nicola' in Kinky Boots- currently in previews at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Opening night is set for April 4, 2013.

What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?

CATS with my mother in San Francisco when I was 9 years old. After the show I told my mother "I wanna do that" and 10 years later I did it on Broadway.

What is your most unique pre-show ritual?

During this run in Kinky Boots it's all about drinking Dunkin Donuts iced tea. It's probably the worst thing you could do for your body before you have to sing but I can barely function without that cup full of ice and black tea in my hands!

What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?

In CATS on Broadway our Rum Tum Tugger (there was a swing on) couldn't break through the wall so Marlene Daniel stood up and sang his entire first verse and strutted around on stage like a DIVA till he was able to get on stage... She had been doing the show for almost 18 years so if she didn't know the lyrics then shame on her. Laughing.

What is the one role you want to play before you die?

This is hard because I have 2 personalities... as Celina Carvajal I would LOVE and DIE to take a shot at Elphaba in Wicked. As Lena Hall (lead singer of my band The Deafening) I would LOVE to play Janis Joplin in Love Janis!

Who is your Broadway crush?

Gavin Creel! I wish to god he could see that I'm a gay man trapped inside a woman's body! I'm so IN LOVE with that man, not only is he beautiful and absurdly talented but he is also an amazing human being, just a wonderful person. I would die and go to heaven if I could play opposite him in something HARD ROCK like a musical about Sid and Nancy or Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love!
