The London Evening Standard is reporting that Kevin Spacey will host a benefit to raise funds for the Old Vic roof repair with the help of Paul McCartney.  Spacey is the Artistic Director of The Old Vic Theatre Company, which is housed in a 192-year old building that suffered damage from bombings during WWII.  Spacey has long been campaigning to raise funds to fix the subsequently leaky roof.

To aid his effort, McCartney will perform a one-night-only concert for 450 guests.  The event, which will be held at The Boiler House at Battersea Power Station, will also feature an art auction, from which any proceeds will go towards roof constructon.

Says Spacey: "We are thrilled Paul McCartney will lend his extraordinary talents on the evening alongside brilliant artists who've generously donated their artworks for auction. It's set to be quite a night."

Tickets for the concert start at $750 (£500) and go up to $15,000 (£10,000) for a premium table for 10.

In exchange for his services, some of the evening's proceeds will be allocated to McCartney's Meat Free Monday campaign, which promotes vegetarianism among meat-eaters for one day a week.

The Old Vic boasts a rich history of great productions from Olivier's Hamlet to Ian McKellen's Widow Twankey. Through Old Vic New Voices, the organization also nurtures young actors, writers and directors, and works with schools and neighbours to bring theatre to a wider audience.
