Award-winning Seattle singer and songwriter Tess Henley will release her new album "High Heels & Sneakers," May 7 on iTunes, and her album release show is set for May 31 at The Columbia City Theater, with special guest Melissa Polinar. Tickets for the album release show can be purchased for $12 in advance here, or by calling the Brown Paper Tickets 24-hour customer service hotline at 1-800-838-3006. If any tickets are not sold, they will be available for $15 at the door.

Henley has won numerous performance and songwriting competitions, including the 2011 Budweiser Superfest, where she beat the eventual winner of NBC's "The Voice" (2012), Jermaine Paul. She has also won the Soul Tracks International Songwriting Competition, an Independent Music Award for Best R&B Song, and earned top three honors in the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition. Most recently, she has been nominated for "Best R&B Song" once again by the Independent Music Awards for a track from "High Heels & Sneakers" called "Daydreaming."

A Suzuki-trained pianist who started studying at age 3, Henley grew up in a house filled with music. Her mother and brother are both professional musicians and her record-collecting father turned Tess on to myriad musical influences from early childhood, exposing the budding songstress to everything from classic rock to Motown soul to R&B and beyond. The results can be heard throughout High Heels & Sneakers - a powerful fusion of voice and vision - much like the artist herself.

Preceded by the singles/videos for "Daydreaming" and "From The Get Go" (also available as a free download at https://soundcloud.com/tesshenley/tess-henley-from-the-get-go), "High Heels & Sneakers" is a 14-track collection of piano pop and hip-hop influenced neo-soul. The album is produced by Grammy-winning artist/producer Dice Raw from The Roots and Grammy and Emmy-nominated producer/arranger Khari Mateen (The Roots, Jill Scott, J*DaVeY).

Henley will also perform as part of Synergia Northwest Orchestra's "Music Lessons Matter!," an annual concert event to raise funds and awareness for youth music in the Pacific Northwest, this year funding children's music lessons in Seattle's Central District, at the Moore Theatre May 18. The series is now in its fourth year and artists performing with the 50-piece Synergia Northwest Orchestra have included members of Heart, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Blues Traveler, Tracy Bonham, Queensryche, YES and others.
