The L.A. Times reports that Tyler Perry's latest film 'For Colored Girls' will open this November. Watch the trailer for a sneak peek at the star-studded cast.

Tyler Perry is well known for adapting his stage plays for the screen, and while 'For Colored Girls' is adapted from a play, it was not written by Perry.  The film is an adaptation of Ntozake Shange's famous 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf,' which won the 1975 Obie award and was nominated for a Tony for Best Play in 1977. Shange's play is structured by 20 poems dealing with love, rape, abortion and abandonment through stories of individual women. The show is performed by seven women known only by color - Lady in Red and Lady in Blue are two.

Perry's cast includes Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Kimberly Elise, Loretta Devine and Whoopi Goldberg. Perry also produced and directed the film.
