Hugh Panaro is ending his run as the Phantom in Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera. Before playing the Phantom, Panaro played the role of Raoul, which he played for 900 performances. As the the Phantom, Panaro played 2227 performances. His fellow cast members did the math and found that he has played over 3000 performances of The Phantom of the Opera.

Panaro has performed both On- and Off-Broadway. He began his career in the Off-Broadway production of What's a Nice Country Like You...Doing in a State Like This (1985). His other Off-Broadway credits include White Lies (1992), Sweet Adeline (1997), and Little Fish (2003). His Broadway credits include Les Miserables (1987), The Phantom of the Opera (1988), The Red Shoes (1993), Show Boat (1994), Children and Art (2005), and more.
