If you're allergic to shopping malls, excessive commercialism or egg nog, The Ringwald Theatre has the perfect solution to restore a smile to your overburdened holidays. Opening December 20th for an exclusive four-day engagement is the return of the comedic duo of The SantaLand Diaries & Season's Greetings from award-winning humorist David Sedaris and adapted for the stage by acclaimed director Joe Mantello and featuring Joe Bailey and Joe Plambeck.

A young man (Joe Plambeck) arrives in New York with dreams of being a writer for One Life to Live and instead lands a part-time job as a Macy's Christmas elf named Crumpet. From humiliating interview to elf indoctrination to scrapes with miscast Santas and obnoxious customers, the author's real-life experiences, detailed in The SantaLand Diaries, are merrily subversive and fall-on-your-knees funny!

In Season's Greetings, a determinedly sunny Mrs. Jocelyn Dunbar (Joe Bailey) takes pen to paper recounting the joys and unexpected surprises of the past year - including the arrival of her husband's illegitimate, golddigging,Vietnamese daughter on the doorstep. Twisted, tragic and hilarious in its lurid revelations, Season's Greetings is an antidote to the chipper holiday newsletter of yore.

David Sedaris is the author of the best sellers Barrel Fever, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Naked, and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. He taught writing at the Art Institute of Chicago for two years, and his essays appear regularly in The New Yorker and Esquire. Sedaris' original radio pieces can often be heard on public radio's This American Life, distributed nationally by WBEZ in Chicago.

The SantaLand Diaries & Season's Greetings will play at 8pm Thursday, December 19th - Saturday, December 21st at 8pm, 3pm on Sunday, December 22nd with the final performance at 8pm on Monday, December 23rd.

Ticket prices are $15.00 for the Thursday and Sunday performances, $20 for the Friday and Saturday showings, and the final performance on Monday, December 23rd is only $10. Tickets can be purchased at www.theRingwald.com or at the Ringwald box office, which opens 45 minutes before performances. Tickets can be purchased with cash or Visa/Mastercard at the door. The Ringwald opened their doors five years ago on May 11, 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community. Past Productions include: Trainspotting, Shining City, The Bad Seed, Killer Joe, Bug, Mercury Fur, and Silent Night of the Lambs. The Ringwald was named 2009 and 2012 Best Theatrical Troupe by Real Detroit and Best Place to See Local Theatre in 2010, 2011 and 2012 by the readers of Metro Times.
