Variety reports that Rebel Wilson, currently making her West End debut in the revival of GUYS AND DOLLS, is set to star in a reboot of the 1988 comedy DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS from MGM studios.

The original pic, starring funny men Steve Martin and Michael Caine, followed two con men who attempted to swindle a heiress out of her money. That film was itself a reboot of the 1964 film "Bedtime Story" starring Marlon Brando and David Niven. The latest incarnation will feature "two female scam artists, one low rent and the other high class, compete to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune."

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was also turned into a 2004 musical comedy, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and a book by Jeffrey Lane. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2005 and ran for 626 performances despite mixed reviews. It has since received tours and international productions. A West End production opened in 2014.

Rebel Wilson is also attached to star in a remake of "Private Benjamin." She was recently seen on the big screen in "How to Be Single" and "Pitch Perfect 2."
