Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson battle the evil Professor Moriarty and his gang of thugs as ActorsNET presents Sherlock Holmes, January 20 through February 5 at the Heritage Center Theatre in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Artistic Director Cheryl Doyle directs Michael Krahel of Hillsboro, NJ as Holmes, Ken Ammerman of Morrisville as Watson and Rupert Hinton of Princeton, NJ as Moriarty in this definitive stage version of Holmes' exploits, which was co-authored by the famed sleuth's creator and actor William Gillette, who earned acclaim portraying Holmes.

"Over the years we've seen countless plays and films about Holmes and Watson, but we are presenting them as Conan Doyle himself wished him to be depicted," Cheryl Doyle explained. "He and Mr. Gillette packed their script with vivid characters and adventure. And at the same time, they added a little romantic interest and an abduction to spice things up."

Actor Michael Krahel recently discussed his foray into Holmes' complex world. "Playing Sherlock Holmes has been the thrill and the challenge of a lifetime," Krahel said. "Before I accepted the role, I knew the major Sherlock trademarks - the deerstalker cap, the meerschaum pipe, 'Elementary, my dear Watson,' et cetera -- but I had forgotten Holmes' dark side.

"Holmes' duty to and love for justice coexists with a reliance on substances that are now considered illicit, a vision of the world as fundamentally lacking in meaning, and a desire for an intimacy that is a constant victim of his own crushing self-sabotage," Krahel observed. "Reconciling Holmes' kind heart and disturbing worldview - and seeing him get a real chance at redemption - has made playing him a uniquely unforgettable experience."

"Michael's interpretation of Sherlock Holmes is being brilliantly matched by Ken Ammerman's Doctor Watson and Rupert Hinton's villainous Professor Moriarty," Ms. Doyle said. "I think the detective's fans will love returning with us to the beginnings of his legendary career."

Sherlock Holmes supporting players include, alphabetically: Chris Capitolo, Isaiah Davis, Dan Hickey, Molly Karlin, Connor Learn, George Lobis, Steve Lobis, Ed Patton, Hans Peters, Hannah Rapaport-Stein and Joy Woffindin. Kelly E. Allen stage manages.

Sherlock Holmes performs weekends January 20 through February 5 at The Heritage Center Theatre, 635 N. Delmorr Avenue (Route 32), Morrisville, PA - near the Calhoun Street Bridge. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There will be a special "Talk Back" session following the January 27 performance, allowing the audience to engage with the cast and production team. Sherlock Holmes is being presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
