Peter Saxe and Chip Close & Ben Roseberry Win MAC's 2016 Burman & Wallowitch Awards

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) announces the 2016 winners of the Dottie Burman and John Wallowitch Awards. This year's celebrity judge was Broadway and Cabaret star Karen Mason.

The Dottie Burman Award, established when MAC was bequeathed an endowment from Ms. Burman's estate, is presented to a songwriter over 40. This year's recipient is Peter Saxe.

The John Wallowitch Award, created by the MAC Board of Directors, is presented to a songwriter under 40. This year's recipients are the songwriting team of Chip Klose & Ben Roseberry.

The award winners will have their songs performed at MAC's THEY WRITE THE SONGS show Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM (reception to follow) at Baruch Performing Arts Center, Engelman Recital Hall, 55 Lexington Ave., New York, NY.

Grammy Award-winning songwriter Julie Gold ("From a Distance") will once again host. Scheduled to perform are Lindsay Mendez (Wicked, Godspell, Everyday Rapture, Grease), Bonnie Milligan (Kinky Boots national tour), JOAN BELGRAVE, Kevin Dozier, Meg Flather, Lina Koutrakos and Carolyn Montgomery-Forant.

Featured songwriters include David Friedman, Alex Rybeck, Lynne Shankel and the 2016 MAC Award winners for Song-Meg Flather and JOHN METTAM; and 2016 MAC Award winners for Comedy/Novelty Song-Carolyn Montgomery-Forant and Jeff Cubeta; Derek Gregor and SAM CARTER.

The show is directed by Lennie Watts, with musical direction by Tracy Stark.
