It wouldn't be summer in NYC without the annual four-week engagement of Pilobolus Dance Theater at The Joyce Theater, this year from July 9 - August 4. Renowned for its inventive, awe-inspiring choreography and collaborations with artists of various backgrounds, the wildly popular Pilobolus will present two programs this summer each including a highly anticipated New York premiere, part of the company's thriving International Collaborators Project. The premieres this season include a collaboration with masters-of-trickery Penn & Teller, and another with filmmakerTrish Sie and musicians Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich & Fussible. There also will be a special family matinee performance, Rules @ Play, on Wednesday, July 24 at 1pm. Tickets for Pilobolus at The Joyce range from $10-$75 (subject to change) and can be purchased by calling JoyceCharge at 212-242-0800 or online at joyce.org. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at West 19th Street.

Program A: COLLABORATION WITH Penn & Teller

Pilobolus collaborates with international superstars, Penn & Teller, resulting in the ultimate of gripping, do-not-try-this-at-home choreography. Although no rabbits and hats appear, this yet-to-be-titled work combines the duo's signature trickery and Pilobolus's strength and agility with Houdini-inspired escapism.. Program B: LICKS - COLLABORATION WITH TRISH SIE and NORTEC COLLECTIVE PRESENTS: BOSTICH & FUSSIBLE

Trish Sie, whose last collaborations with Pilobolus birthed the wildly popular works of Grammy Award-nominee All Is Not Lost (2011) and Skyscrapers (2012), both set to songs of the same names by the alternative rock group OK Go, teams up with the company for Licks, a high-octane romp, full of raw energy and berserk horseplay. Tijuana's Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich & Fussible has partnered to create the unique soundtrack, which fuses infectious modern rhythms and traditional Northern Mexican border music for this work that features 6 dancers...and 12 ropes. Program B also includes Molly's Not Dead, Skyscrapers, Azimuth and Symbiosis.

RULES @ PLAY - A SPECIAL FAMILY MATINEE on JULY 24 at 1:00 PM: Throughout life we all encounter rules, and we usually view them negatively. Rules @ Play, a lively, interactive show created specifically for a youth audience, explores how rules actually present opportunities to solve problems and overcome challenges. They spark creativity and, in the case of Pilobolus, provide tools to make dances. Fun, engaging and accessible, Pilobolus dancers perform and analyze four of the company's favorite works through movement and discussion on and off stage, showcasing the benefits of playing by the rules. The works performed as part of this special program includeWalklyndon, Pseudopodia, The Transformation and All Is Not Lost.
