On The Rocks Theatre Company's Sci-Fi Comedy FRED to Premiere at Dixon Place

Dixon Place's new theatrical commission of On The Rocks Theatre Company's sci-fi comedy with music FRED, will have its world premiere on Friday, March 17th at 7:30 PM. The production is written by On The Rocks co-founders Christopher Ford & Dakota Rose. Ms. Rose helms the production as director.

FRED will play six performances only - March 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 31st and April 1st at 7:30 PM, at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. FRED, a fully-realized robot with origins as a pool vacuum, has been keeping his inventor's comatose widow alive for over two hundred years when he decides they could use a change. Taking a leap of faith, he packs up their home in Phoenix and relocates them to a retirement space station orbiting Pluto, where something is awakened in Fred's ancient companion.

On The Rocks follows up last season's popular Dixon Place co-production of The White Stag Quadrilogy with the world premiere of FRED. Previous credits also include McBeth at The Connelly Theatre and the 2015 premiere of Wolfert at Dixon Place.

FRED features Derek Smith, Shannon Holt, Patrick Harvey, Rebeca Miller, Michelle Uranowitz, and Andrew R. Butler. Choreography is by Chloe Kernaghan. Music direction and arrangements are by Andrew R. Butler. Set, costume, and sound design is by Christopher Ford and Dakota Rose. Lighting design is by Chantel Gaidica

This Dixon Place Commission is made possible, in part, with public funds from NY State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the NY State Legislature, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and private funds from the Jerome Foundation.

The Dixon Place Lounge is open before and after the show. Proceeds from the bar directly support Dixon Place's artists and mission.
