It looks like Kristin Chenoweth may be returning to Broadway sooner than we might have guessed!

As the webmaster of kchenoweth.net, the leading Kristin Chenoweth fansite, I recently had the opportunity to talk to the Kristin about a variety of topics. She filled me in about her next big project, I Am Anne Hutchinson, a new oratorial piece by Andrew Lippa that will have its world premiere at Strathmore (outside of Washington D.C.) in April in conjunction with I Am Harvey Milk, which was performed with Lippa and Chenoweth at Lincoln Center in 2014. Kristin also shared some insights into the expectations of Hollywood, specifically for women, and what's important to remember to stay grounded. Of course we also talked about her plans for the future, which include a return to Broadway, possibly even in the near future! Here is an excerpt of what she said:

"I am attached to Tammy Faye Bakker - The Musical and Soapdish... The important thing with Tammy Faye for me is to play the person, not the persona. And that's been my biggest challenge. And yes, we will be doing a workshop probably in the spring... A lot will be able to be told to me (once we've done the workshop). I've already done one, very very quietly. We're doing another in the spring and then we'll go from there... I think for me the next year will be really continuing to do these bigger halls (for concerts), and then getting back on Broadway."

Kristin Chenoweth participated in a previous invitation-only reading for Tammy Faye Bakker - The Musical in June 2011, staged by Robert Longbottom. The reading also starred e Hunter Foster as Jim Bakker, Nancy Opel as Betty Ford, Clarke Thorell as Jimmy Swaggert, Robert Petkoff as Pat Robertson and Bradley Dean as Jerry Falwell. The musical, with the previous working title Rise, features a score by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls) and a book by Anthony Crowley. Following reports from 2011 and 2012, producers include Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller and Marc Platt.

Kristin Chenoweth is currently on a concert tour through the US. She was most recently seen on Broadway in the 2015 revival of On The 20th Century, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award and received a Drama Desk Award for Best Actress. In addition, she co-hosted the Tony Awards telecast with Alan Cumming, and Broadway At The White House with Matt Morrison. On TV, she portrayed the beloved Disney villain Maleficent in the Disney Channel movie Descendants, which reached record ratings. Kristin also recently launched her own jewelry line with HSN, and just wrapped the shooting of the independent movie Class Rank starring Bruce Dern.
