Two days before the beginning of summer, the Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) announces the return of the highly reveredLincoln Park Music Festival. The 8th annual highly anticipated event consistently attracts a growing number of attendees and last year the numbers exceeded 40,000 people over what was then a three-day event. On the main stage, the Lincoln Park Music Festival (LPMF) features some of the best performers in the city and throughout the country, reflecting a variety of musical genres: Hip-Hop, House, Jazz, and Gospel. A peek at this year's confirmed performer's roster reveals an eclectic mix of African American music tastes. Funk lovers will see Bernie Worrell Orchestraon the first day of the festival which will be held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center(NJPAC), downtown Newark. NJPAC's Sounds of the Cityand the Lincoln Park Music Festival are co-presenting this FunkFest event. Jazz lovers will be treated with a musical tribute to the legendary Wayne Shorter byAmiri Baraka's NewArkestra, featuring an all-star line-up. For House music lovers, LPMF will welcome Terisa GriffinandJihad Muhammad. For lovers of Gospel music, Will Brown & Another Level,andJules BartholomewfeaturingJudaCamp, will perform and for lovers of the golden era of Hip-Hop, Redman (Newark native), Lords of the Underground, and Black Thought of The Roots will be on deck. In the park, and for all days of the festival, attendees can mix and mingle in the arts and crafts marketplace, enjoy food from scores of food vendors, and learn more about getting in shape - and learn about yoga, too! - in the health and wellness pavilion.

For eight years, the multi-day event has been without safety incidents of any kind and has been a model of safe, family-friendly fun for the residents of Newark and a growing number of regional and national guests. The event will take place in Lincoln Park, located at 1035-1071 Broad Street, Newark, NJ 07102.
