SATURDAY, MAY 12, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
BALLET FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: AN EXPLORATION OF CHOREOGRAPHY
NYCB Principal Dancers Sterling Hyltin and Robert Fairchild lead this onstage interactive demonstration about choreography especially designed for family audiences. Program is appropriate for children four and older and will feature excerpts performed by NYCB’s dancers and live music from members of the NYCB Orchestra. Repertory will include excerpts from George Balanchine’s Serenade, Jerome Robbins’ Fancy Free, and Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV: Danse à Grande Vitesse and Les Carillons.
Ticket required: $20 (per person, both children and adults)

PRE-PERFORMANCE INSIGHTS SEMINAR: THE ARTISTS’ PERSPECTIVE
NYCB Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins, NYCB Principal Dancer Wendy Whelan, composer Nico Muhly, and choreographer Alexei Ratmansky discuss dance in the 21st Century.

PRE-PERFORMANCE INSIGHTS SEMINAR: MEET THE DANCERS
NYCB dancers share their perspective on 21st-century choreography, discuss the process of creating new work with today’s generation of choreographers, and provide insight into the life of a professional dancer.

SATURDAY MAY 19, 5:00 PM
PRE-PERFORMANCE INSIGHTS SEMINAR: MAKING NEW WORK
An onstage panel discussion exploring how emerging choreographers develop their skills with panelists including NYCB Ballet Master and Assistant Artistic Director of The New York Choreographic Institute Richard Tanner and choreographers Emery LeCrone and NYCB corps de ballet member Justin Peck. This event will include a preview of some of Peck’s most recent work.
