Mummenschanz, the renowned theatrical troupe, returns to the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place) for 12 performances only. Part of a US national tour, the New York engagement runs from November 20- 30. The show will feature some of the most popular sketches created and performed by the internationally renowned troupe, as well as brilliant new creations (including one world premiere created especially for New York audiences).

Mummenschanz conjures a magical world, full of possibilities, without uttering a word. The troupe's playful and memorable exploits display an enormously inventive use of forms, shadow and light as well as creative manipulation of sculptural, expressive masks and abstract shapes. The result is a visually stunning spectacle of entertainment that is suitable for the entire family to enjoy. Mummenschanz offers timeless insight on the human condition. The result transcends cultural barriers and sparks the imagination. The entire program of sculptural puppetry and visual antics is performed without music or sound.

Since its three year run on Broadway, Mummenschanz has pioneered a new form of visual theater and has constantly and successfully toured in 60 countries on five continents. In the last three years, they have been to London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Milan, Berlin, Vienna, Mexico City, and South Africa. The New York Times applauds "The show is particularly vital to young audiences who've been raised on beeping gadgets and headphones and rarely experienced the extraordinary power of silence." and The Boston Globe cheers "Mummenschanz mystifies and delights." The Chicago Tribune exclaimed that the show "amuses and delights, still inspiring wonder and smiles" and The San Francisco Chronicle raves "Mummenschanz succeeds brilliantly because of its originality, exceptional ingenuity, sense of surprise and deft satirical touches."

"When we return to New York, we always feel like we are coming home," said founder and performer Floriana Frassetto. "The 'stories' we tell are unique in that they have no sound or music and we hope that our show will awaken the little child in everyone."
