On April 25 at 8pm at The Town Hall (123 West 43rd St.), The Museum of Jewish Heritage and The Town Hall Foundation will present a special performance from American concert pianist Mona Golabek who tells the gripping, true story of her mother, Lisa Jura, who held on to her music and her dreams to survive one of the darkest periods in history.

Based on her bestselling book & with more relevance today than ever, this is the inspiring story of a young Jewish refugee, one of nearly 10,000 children who escaped from Nazi-occupied Europe on the Kindertransport.

This performance caps Mona's performances for 12,000 New York City school children, in partnership with Facing History and Ourselves, the Austrian mission to the UN and the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the New York City Department of Education. Each of the children attending these performances has studied her book and have come to Town Hall, the United Nations, or the Martin Luther King, Jr. High School to hear Mona's story of hope and courage.

The Town Hall is among New York City's most historic venues. Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public debate forum and grew to be a national landmark institution for arts, culture and education. Over the decades, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Marian Anderson, Bob Dylan and MiLes Davis have graced the stage. It was home to the legendary radio program, America's Town Meeting of the Air, dozens of historic albums and recordings, and American debuts of musical legends. Today, the Hall boasts the very best in music performances, spoken word, comedy and dance, including speaking engagements with residents and senators, live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, and a number of new and critically acclaimed music series.
