In honor of the opening of the revitalized Father Duffy Square and the new TKTS booth, the Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and the Times Square Alliance (TSA) will host the Inaugural lighting of the red steps under which the TKTS booth sits, in celebration of  the Broadway community. This will mark the first time the newly designed glowing red staircase will be lit for the public. The event will take place on Thursday, October 16th at 6:30PM

The event will be hosted by Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell (Kiss Me, Kate), Tony winner Sutton Foster (Shrek The Musical), Broadway personality Julie Halston (Gypsy), and Emmy Award winner John Leguizamo (American Buffalo). They will be joined by cast members from various other Broadway and Off-Broadway shows who will join in with a chorus of “Give My
Regards to Broadway” after the stairs have been lit.

All press should report to the southeast corner of Duffy Square, located at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue at West 46th Street

Theatre Development Fund (TDF)’s new TKTS booth is a state-of-the-art fiberglass shell encased by an all-glass structure, which sits under a glowing red glass staircase. The slip-resistant glass steps are lit from below with advanced LED technology, and utilize unique geothermal-based heating and cooling technology. From atop this amphitheatre-style staircase, 27 steps high, 16 feet above street level, visitors now have a unique vantage point to take in the excitement of Times Square as never before, making Duffy Square a new destination for New Yorkers and visitors alike.
