Mergatroyd Productions in association with the Midtown International Theater Festival is pleased to present the world premiere of JULIA & BUDDY, written and directed by N. G. McClernan and featuring Claire Warden* and Matthew DeCapua.* Garnering acclaim as a one-act in the 2010 Midtown In- ternational Theater Festival, playwright N. G. McClernan expanded on her theme and characters into a full-length play for this world premiere.

JULIA & BUDDY are an unlikely pair: Julia, a philosophy professor who can't leave her apartment without having a panic attack and Buddy, a maintenance man who can't fix his own problems. Throw in a dead German philosopher, a space cowboy and a secret affair ... and what could go right?

JULIA & BUDDY was inspired by Bill Manhoff's off-Broadway hit (later a hit movie starring Barbra Streisand) THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT. Both plays have an underlying belief that no matter how different or screwed up we are, we all need love and understanding to get by.

Director/author N. G. McClernan's plays have been produced in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Colorado, and her BLESSINGS OF THE SUN GOD was produce and directed by this year's Obie Award-winning director Oliver Butler. She runs NYCPlaywrights http://www.nycplaywrights.org, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild. Contact her at: nancy@mergatroyd.org.

Claire Warden (Julia) began her acting career in the UK. Recent credits include ENGAGING SHAW, Abingdon Theatre and THE LIBERTINE, Playhouse Crea- tures. She is the Director of Education for the Shakespeare Forum and co-runs the Ambassador program for The Shakespeare Society. www.clairewarden.com
