Matthew Morrison turned to Twitter today to share his excitement over the start of rehearsals for the upcoming Broadway musical Finding Neverland. "Amazing first day of rehearsals for @NeverlandBway," tweeted the GLEE star, "This is a special show!"

Morrison will portray playwright J.M. Barrie opposite Laura Michelle Kelly, who takes on the role of Sylvia Llewlyn Davies. The musical is based on the 2004 movie which starred Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet.

Tony Award winning director Diane Paulus, (Broadway's Pippin, Hair) shared with PEOPLE today, "The first day of rehearsal is always a thrilling day. To bring everyone together, including our extraordinary cast, led by Matthew [Morrison] and Kelsey [Grammer], is unbelievably energizing for all of us. Off we go!"

Finding Neverland begins preview performances on March 15, with opening night set for April 15th.

Finding Neverland, starring Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer, Laura Michelle Kelly, and Carolee Carmello, will begin previews on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street), and will open on Wednesday, April 15.
