Grammy-nominated artist Matisyahu returns with his Festival of Light tour, today, November 30-December 9, 2013. An annual Hannukah event now in its seventh year, Matisyahu's Festival of Light is a unique collection of tour dates celebrating the Jewish holiday during the winter months. Matisyahu's Festival of Light performances will feature sets that include material spanning his entire career.
To kick off his Festival of Light performances, Matisyahu will headline the XRT Holiday Concert for the Kids at Chicago's Riviera Theatre, where $1 from each ticket purchased will benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. The Festival of Light comes on the heels of Matisyahu's succesful summer tour with Rebelution; please see below for a list of dates. Matisyahu is touring while at work on his sixth full-length studio album, expected by summer 2014. Of the record, produced by Stu Brooksand Joel Hamilton and featuring Brooklyn group Dub Trio, Matisyahu notes, "This record is a document of my spiritual, artistic and personal evolution. It takes the religious ideas I have studied and connects them to my heart. It is my most intimate work to date and I believe it will resonate strongly in the hearts of those who listen." The forthcoming album follows Matisyahu's latest release Spark Seeker, which was produced by Kool Kojak (Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha) and hailed as "inspired" by Rolling Stone and "riveting" by American Songwriter; upon its release the record debuted in the Billboard Top 20.
