It's a New Year's tradition that doesn't get old. For the third year in a row Marilyn Maye brings back her exciting "By Request" format for a week of raucous revelry after ringing out 2013 with back-to-back shows on New Year's Eve. Maye's remarkable performances will be accompanied by pianist/conductor Billy Stritch, bassist Tom Hubbard, and drummer Ray Marchica. The party doesn't stop until Sunday January 12.
With showtimes at 7:30pm and 10:40pm on Tuesday December 31, Marilyn creates "The Biggest Party EVER." (Music charges are $50 per person for the early show, and $154.99 per person, open bar-inclusive, for the late show.) After New Year's Eve, the merry-making continues, for seven nights between January 3 and 12, with a hard-to-resist music charge of only $30 per person. "Marilyn by Request" plays Fri to Sun January 3, 4 and 5; Wed & Thurs January 8 & 9, and Sat & Sun January 11 & 12. All shows are at 7pm. Maye is in the midst of one of the most exciting chapters of a storied career. A nightclub mainstay, RCA recording artist and musical theatre actress in the '60s, '70s, and '80s, the "Best New Artist" Grammy nominee (1965) returned to New York in October 2006 after a 15-year absence. At the invitation of the late Donald Smith her epochal Cabaret Convention appearance segued into an unbroken string of sold-out runs at the Metropolitan Room through 2010. It is here that Maye built a new following, introducing an entirely new generation to the fun-loving performance style that once was the hallmark of large rooms and nightclubs across the country. This is Ms. Maye's 14th Metropolitan Room engagement.Videos
