Mad About Drama to Bring WITH LOVE, CALCUTTA to Gyan Manch, Dec 29

Mad About Drama, a performing arts company based in Kolkata, will present WITH LOVE, CALCUTTA on the 29th of December, 2015 at Gyan Manch at 6 PM. Written and directed by Aritra Sengupta and Ayanti Ghosh, WITH LOVE, CALCUTTA will be performed in English, Bengali and Hindi.

The play is an amalgamation of several tiny plays, which move back and forth, between Calcutta and Kolkata, between people and memories, between old meetings and new partings, between strangers and their stranger tales, and tells us the story of how people make a city, more than a city making its people. A plethora of emotions, an innovative set, and a much applauded light design bring alive this play with the idiosyncratic nuances of the city that it speaks about, thus providing the audience with a spectacle that can be remembered whenever one trespasses the by-lanes of nostalgia.

The play was selected by Thespo (India's largest youth theatre festival organised by Mumbai based QTP productions) out of almost 100+ plays that auditioned last year from all over India,to perform at the Prithvi Theatre, the first time after the year 2008. Both the shows at Prithvi (1st and 2nd of July) were housefull shows,a rare feat for first timers in Mumbai. A standing ovation followed. The play then travelled to Delhi in October 2014, and was performed at the prestigious Stein Auditorium at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi and Epicentre(Gurgaon), earning rave reviews from the audience.

WITH LOVE, CALCUTTA also managed to stay in the Prithvi Hall of Fame for a significant amount of time. The play makes its comeback at Prithvi on the 5th and 6th of January, 2016, on popular demand.
