LORDE's platinum-selling breakthrough single 'Royals' is making history yet again. The song just reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart, and the 16-year-old New Zealand phenomenon is the youngest artist to top the chart since 1987. 'Royals' recently set a new record for "Longest #1 at Alternative Radio by a Female Artist" with a staggering seven weeks at the top.
Upon learning the news, she exclusively told Billboard, "It feels like a combination of my birthday, Christmas and washing my hair after a month of not doing so. [I'm] very, very grateful for everyone's love and kind words." Currently, LORDE is ruling over multiple charts. 'Royals' has held the #1 spot at Alternative and AAA radio for seven consecutive weeks, and it has become the #1 greatest gainer at Rhythmic and Hot AC formats. 'Royals' also soared to #1 on the iTunes Overall Top Songs Chart as well as #1 on the Alternative Songs Chart. The follow-up single 'Team' is currently the #1 most added record at Alternative radio, and has climbed to #8 on the Alternative Songs Chart. This adds up to an accumulated audience of over 146 million people. This news arrives in tandem with the release of her full-length debut, Pure Heroine [Lava/Republic Records], in stores now. Once the album became available, it landed at #1 on the Amazon MP3 Chart and #3 on the Album Chart. At iTunes, it ascended to #1 on the Overall Top Albums Chart, while eight other album tracks float up the Top 100 Alternative Singles chart.Videos
