Lea Thompson Joins Nic Cage and More in LEFT BEHIND Movie

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Lea Thompson has joined the cast of the upcoming revamped film adaptation of LEFT BEHIND. She will star alongside Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray and Jordin Sparks.

Also in the cast are Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan and Quinton Aaron. As of now, the film is poised as the first in a trilogy.

The LEFT BEHIND series, centering on a group of people after The Rapture, has been extremely lucrative in the Christian community. The film franchise is based upon the books by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, which have sold more than 65 million copies worldwide. The original trilogy launched in 2001 with Kirk Cameron.

Thompson's recent screen credits include the movie J. Edgar and ABC Family's series Switched at Birth. She is known for her work in the Back to the Future trilogy and on TV in Caroline in the City. Thompson also starred onstage in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret.

She will next be seen in the Vancouver-based UP TV series My Mother's Future Husband, as well as the upcoming features Ping Pong Summer and Wild Oats.
