According to The Hollywood Reporter, 2929 Productions and Emily Ziff and Sara Murphy of Cooper's Town Productions announced today that Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, TED 2) and Theo James (The DIVERGENT Series: Insurgent) are set to star in the supernatural thriller BLACK LUNG.

Seyfried will portray Del, wife of a Utah coal miner (James) whose premonition moves her to save her husband just before an explosion in the mine traps all the other miners, an act that tests her marriage, puts her under suspicion of state officials tasked with the rescue, and stokes the resentment of all the other women in town. With time running out to save the entombed men, Del's increasingly horrifying visions hint to something darker at play within the iconic mountain that looms over the plateau like an anvil, a darkness she comes to believe will consume them all.

Award-winning filmmaker Chase Palmer will make his feature film debut, directing from his own screenplay. Cary Fukunaga (HBO's "True Detective," Jane Eyre) is executive producing the project through his Parliament of Owls production company, set to start principal photography in summer 2015.

"'Black Lung' possesses that rare mix of qualities that we as producers dream about. It's elegant, sophisticated, and thrillingly commercial with a visionary filmmaker and two electrifying actors on board to bring it to the screen," said Ziff and Murphy.

"Amanda Seyfried and Theo James are two of the most in demand actors in Hollywood and are the perfect duo to play a couple battling with mysterious forces in 'Black Lung.' The tense script combined with these A-list stars will make it a key title for buyers in Berlin," said Wilson and Nestel.

Seyfried will co-star in the upcoming TED 2, the sequel to Universal Pictures' hit film with Mark Wahlbergand Seth MacFarlane, which will be released in theaters on June 26, 2015. She also appears in NOAH Baumbach's upcoming independent feature, While We're Young, with Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts and Adam Driver, opening on March 27, 2015. This summer she will also appear in Joe Wright's Pan for Warner Bros, an origin story of Peter Pan with Hugh Jackman. She recently filmed the lead role in the independent feature, Fathers and Daughters, with Russell Crowe and Aaron Paul. She appeared in the Universal comedy, A Million Ways To Die in the West, opposite Seth MacFarlane and Charlize Theron, and also voiced the lead in Twentieth Century Fox's animated Epic. She starred as Linda LOVELACE in the Radius TWC's biopic, Lovelace, which premiered at Sundance and for which she received rave reviews.

Amanda has appeared as Cosette in the film adaptation of Les Miserables and previously appeared in Mamma Mia! with Meryl Streep. Other film credits include Mean Girls; Diablo Cody's horror comedy, Jennifer's Body, with Megan Fox; the thriller Chloe opposite Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson; Nicholas Sparks' Dear John withChanning Tatum; and the romantic dramedy Letters to Juliet with Vanessa Redgrave. Her television career took off on HBO's critically acclaim "Big Love" with Bill Paxton, Chloe Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin, as well as a memorable turn in cult favorite "Veronica Mars" as the series' catalyst.
