Irish Comedy Trousers Plays Off-Bway Beginning Oct. 5

Origin Theatre Company, in association with Ireland's Guan Nua Theatre has announced the American premiere of Trousers, a new comedy by David Parnell and Paul Meade.  Trousers runs October 5th through October 22nd with an opening scheduled for Thursday, October 12th at 59E59 Theatres, located at 59 East 59th Street between Madison and Park Avenue.

Trousers takes, "A funny and quirky look at male friendship as it examines the messy lives of Dermot and Mick, two old college chums who've been out of contact for the last 17 years. Now pushing 40, the duo is forcibly reunited when Mick suddenly appears on Dermot's doorstep and confesses that he's lost his girlfriend, his apartment, and his job, and needs a place to sort things out. As the weeks go by, the ambitious Dermot tries to get the bone-idle Mick off the couch and back into the world." 

The play received its world premiere in September in Dublin. The cast features Daniel Stewart (Not About Nightingales, It Just Catches) and Gary Gregg.  Playwrights Meade and Parnell have worked extensively in Irish theatre.  Meade will also direct the play.

The show plays Tuesday through Saturday at 8:30 PM and Sunday at 7:30 PM.  Tickets are $18 and are available through Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or via the web at www.TicketCentral.com.
