Help celebrate Studio 101 Theatre Companies, Stark Nakes Theatre's and Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company's 2014-2015 exciting new seasons at Spring Street Studio's Throwback Thursday Event July 24th, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm!

STUDIO 101 at 1824 Spring Street, Houston, TX 77007 will be the Hub of the event!

Spring Street Studios is home to more than 60 creative artists and businesses, including visual artists, photographers, silk-screen shops, yoga and exercise studios, publishers, design firms, architects, dance companies, make-up artists, puppeteers, filmmakers, theater companies, bicycle tours, and much more.

IN STUDIO 101

Stark Naked Theatre will kick off its season with the Texas premiere of Suzanne Bradbeer's "superb new drama" THE GOD GAME, starring Kim & Philip Lehl and Justin Doran! We will follow that up with a World premiere Christmas comedy brought to you in collaboration with Third Coast Creative - HO HO HUMBUG - featuring original music and story written by and starring New York actor and playwright Scott Burkell! You won't want to miss this hysterical Christmas tale of a disgruntled elf, turned reluctant Santa and ultimately made a holiday believer! Then you will be able to join the theatre that does Shakespeare like nobody else when we bring to life one of the all time greats with our own spectacular rendition of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM! Stark Naked with team up with University of Houston for this one and it will be a magical event you will not want to miss! And finally we close out the season with the regional premiere of Sarah Ruhl's smash success new work STAGE KISS!! Directed by Brandon Weinbrenner. Fresh from its hugely successful Off- Broadway run at Playwrights Horizons -it will star Kim Tobin-Lehl, teamed up with Stark Naked favorites Drake Simpson and Philip Lehl for a romantic, hysterical and touching journey laid out only like Sarah Ruhl can.

Mildred's Umbrella Theatre company is proud to bring you another season of Premieres, as well as our Museum of Dysfunction Play Festival as we always do... but this year we've added our WOMEN'S PROJECT, which will include four short-run productions, designed to give up-and-coming female artists a chance to create art with us while also raising awareness of local women's charities. In Studio 101, you will see the world premiere of POLLYWOG, by Kiean Mckee, The Houston premiere of RED DEATH by Lisa D'Amour, BECKY'S NEW CAR, by Stephen Dietz, and the Houston Premiere of CLOUD TECHTONICS by Jose Rivera. All of these plays are new to our area and will feature either a female playwright or a strong female protagonist, but these are not 'feminist' plays or 'chick flick' knock offs... they are intelligent, interesting stories that just happen to have a woman as the main character. We will feature many well-known local actors, including James Belcher (The Alley Theatre, Stages Repertory Theatre) and Celeste Roberts (Main Street Theatre, TheatreLab), as well as company regulars Courtney Lomelo, Christie Stryk and Patricia Duran.
