Rosemary Novellino-Mearns, former dance captain of the Radio City Music Hall Ballet Company and author of Saving Radio City Music Hall: A Dancer's True Story, is coming to Guild Hall to present her delightful true story of saving Radio City Music Hall from destruction in 1978.

In April 1978, it was announced that art deco masterpiece and iconic New York City tourist attraction Radio City Music Hall was scheduled to be shut down and demolished to make way for a commercial high-rise. Drawing on formerly untapped strength, "Rosie" led a small but courageous group of dedicated colleagues, friends, and Radio City fans from around the world. Joining forces with the media, cultural leaders and political allies, they challenged the Rockefeller establishment and, against all odds, saved "the Showplace of the Nation."

This informative and entertaining evening takes place on Thursday, October 6 at 7:00 pm and will feature rare films and photos, masterfully organized by Rosie's husband William Mearns, former singer and Captain of the Singers at Radio City Music Hall, and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception. All proceeds will benefit New York actors in financial crisis.
