The Grove Theatre has announced its production of HAIR, the American tribal love-rock musical, opening this Friday, January 11th, 2013. HAIR, first opened Off-Broadway in October, 1967, re-opened on Broadway in May, 1968, and the Tony Award-winning show has enjoyed huge success since that time. HAIR portrays a loving, living, realistic look at the flower children of the 60's, who band together as a tribe, complete with bells, beads, incense, flowers, costumes and dreams. HAIR puts rock music and the culture that went with it on stage.

Seeking a new way, and with a yearning to change the world, the flower children take on the feel of an American Indian tribe, questioning authority, the society they are living in and the war in Asia. Attempting to live a philosophy of peace and love, they hang out in clouds of incense and grass, turning on, freaking out and dropping out. Living in crash pads, in the parks and on the streets, they are unkempt, wild, free, unique, colorful and hip, joining hands in protest and in song. What looks like incredible chaos is actually organized chaos. Phenomenal musical numbers include Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine, I Believe in Love, Hair, I Got Life, What a Piece of Work Is Man and Hippie Life.

The show runs on weekends from January 11th to the 27th. Tickets are $25.00 and $20 and can be purchased by calling (909) 920-4343, or by visiting The Grove box office or website at www.grovetheatre.com. The Grove Theatre is located at 276 E. Ninth Street, Upland, Calif. Box Office Hours (except holidays) Monday - Friday 11:30 am - 4:00 pm, Saturday 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.
