In anticipation of the live 65th Annual Emmy Award broadcast on CBS this Sunday, BWW will be spotlighting the Emmy nominated TV performances of some of Broadway's biggest stars. Today, we take a look at the career of Bobby Cannavale; from the police officer boyfriend on WILL AND GRACE to Tony nominee to not one, but two 2013 Emmy nominations.

For most of America, the first time that we saw Bobby Cannavale was as Will's police officer boyfriend on WILL AND GRACE, for which he won an Emmy in 2005, and while he has remained a fixture on TV since, this uniquely talented actor has branched out and become a star in every possible medium.

For the second year in a row Bobby is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Dr. Mike Cruz on Showtime's NURSE JACKIE. Additionally, he picked up another nom for playing the villain Gyp on HBO's BOARDWALK EMPIRE. This one comes in the Supporting Actor in a Drama category.

He was nominated for his first Tony Award in his Broadway debut in the immensely talented cast of 2007's MAURITIUS. Joining Cannavale in that show were F. Murray Abraham, Dylan Baker, Katie Finneran, and Alison Pill. Since, he has returned to Broadway three times, including twice in the past year. He was again nominated for a Tony, opposite Chris Rock, in 2011's MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT, then he joined Al Pacino (whom we honored yesterday) in the revival of GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, and finally this spring he starred in the revival of Clifford Odets' THE BIG KNIFE.

Cannavale has also appeared in three dozen films, from the absurd, PAUL BLART MALL COP, to the critically acclaimed WIN WIN, opposite Paul Giamatti, Jeffrey Tambor, and Broadway's Nina Arianda. It was also recently announced that he has joined Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in the big screen remake of ANNIE.

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards telecast will air live coast-to-coast on Sunday, September 22nd (8 PM ET/5 PM PT) on CBS from the NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. And be sure to visit BWW TVWorld for live coverage of the 2013 Primetime EMMY AWARDS.
