EMMYS COVERAGE 2013: BWW Salutes Stage & Screen Legend Al Pacino
EMMYS, Al Pacino, HBO, PHIL SPECTOR
In anticipation of the live 65th Annual Emmy Award broadcast on CBS this Sunday, BWW will be spotlighting the Emmy nominated TV performances of some of Broadway's biggest stars. Today, we take a look back at Al Pacino's turn as the titular music producer and murder suspect in HBO's Phil Spector!
In addition to his iconic film work as Michael Corleone in THE GODFATHER trilogy, Tony Montana in SCARFACE, and as the title character in SERPICO, Pacino has been nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning for 1993's A SCENT OF A WOMAN.
Pacino has appeared in 11 Broadway shows since 1969, and he was seen earlier this year in the revival of David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-winning GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, after starring in the legendary 1992 film adaptation. He is a two-time Tony winner for 1969's DOES A TIGER WEAR A NECKTIE? and THE BASIC TRAINING OF PAVLO HUMMEL in 1977. He was also nominated for his role in 2011's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE.
One of America's best actors, he also owns two Emmys, one for HBO's adaptation of ANGELS IN AMERICA and the other for the cable network's YOU DON'T KNOW JACK in 2010.
The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards telecast will air live coast-to-coast on Sunday, September 22nd (8 PM ET/5 PM PT) on CBS from the NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. And be sure to visit BWW TVWorld for live coverage of the 2013 Primetime EMMY AWARDS.
