Fireworks, BBQs, and parades...these are often the favorite parts of the Fourth of July holiday and create memories that last a lifetime. In a day and age when budget constraints force small towns to cancel local festivities, Destination America, the only network that celebrates the people, places, and stories of the U.S., and national weekly magazine, USA WEEKEND are coming to the rescue with the RED, WHITE AND YOU contest. The patriotic competition provides an opportunity for two towns to win a spectacular Fourth of July celebration. In the all-American spirit of good old fashioned fun and fireworks, Destination America will award two deserving towns with an over-the-top birthday party for our nation!

"We want to remind folks of the great, fun spirit of the U.S. on our nation's birthday," said Marc Etkind, SVP of Content Strategy for Destination America. "While so many communities are forced to cut back, Destination America is honored to partner with USA Weekend to provide a party atmosphere that will bring people together, from small town to downtown, and allow them to put their patriotism on display."

"USA WEEKEND is excited to bring our readers the opportunity to nominate their hometowns for this special recognition," said Heather Frank, Editor-in-Chief of USA WEEKEND. "We're proud to join with Destination America to celebrate our nation's birthday and salute the people and communities that embody the American spirit."

The RED, WHITE AND YOU contest can be found at the Destination America site where people nationwide have the opportunity to say why, in 150 words or less, their hometown deserves an all-American celebration. A panel of judges will narrow down finalists which will Go On to the next round and determine the two Grand Prize winners that win the 4th of July celebration they'll never forget. There will be five first runner-up prizes awarding $1000 to each town to be used toward one of The Following local organizations: Parks and Recreation Department, YMCA/YWCA or Habitat for Humanity.
