Kenyon Phillips, known for his inventive blend of orchestral rock, surrealist theater and interactive cabaret, will resurrect his autobiographical rock opera "The Life and Death of Kenyon Phillips" this August at Webster Hall. Hailing from Broadway to downtown and everywhere in between, the show's illustrious cast of singers, dancers, actors, and circus artists continues to grow. Most recently added is Daphne Rubin-Vega, best known for her leading roles in "RENT" and "Anna in the Tropics." Rubin-Vega will reprise her role as Kenyon's mother, which she performed in the original production of "The Life and Death of Kenyon Phillips" at Joe's Pub in May 2014.

The relationship between Kenyon and his mother is a tumultuous one, seasoned with an incestuous affection that is both comical and disquieting - like much of the subject matter in Phillips's rock opera. "I can't wait to step back into Kenyon's mother's stilettos," enthused Ms. Rubin-Vega. "Cady [Huffman] and I are committed to making her crazy, tragic character more archetypal - and Oedipal - than ever before!"

Phillips is thrilled to have Ms. Rubin-Vega back for the Webster Hall performance. "Daphne is a one-of-a-kind singer and a brilliant physical comedian, but she can also get very raw emotionally. In other words, she's perfect for the role - which, after all, she originated."

Directed by Tony Award-winner Cady Huffman and following a series of sold-out performances at Joe's Pub and The Box over the last few months, this one-night-only performance will occur Wednesday, August 19 at 8:00pm in the grand ballroom of Webster Hall - one of North America's most historic entertainment venues.
