'Dance Rocks' Gala Holds Dress Rehearsal Today

The stars will be out this afternoon at the dance event of the season, with Benji Schwimmer and dozens of dancers at Rolex Presents "Dance Rocks An Electrifying Evening Of Entertainment." Celebrating Career Transition for Dancers at the 22nd Anniversary Jubilee.

For one night only, "Dance Rocks - An Electrifying Evening of Entertainment," holds a dress rehearsal at City Center (West 55th Street, between 7th & 8th) on Monday October 29 at 1-1:30PM (please check in at 12:45PM).  Use right-front doors to lobby when entering.

With the eclectic fusion of dance and live contemporary music, "Dance Rocks" will attract theatergoers as well as nostalgia seekers of all generations for an evening of pulsating entertainment.  The Gala will be the entertainment-dance event of the new season.

The honorees for the Gala are Bebe Neuwirth (Rolex Dance Award), Anka K. Palitz and The Jerome Robbins Foundation (Career Transition For Dancers' 2007 Award for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance).   The gala will feature Charlotte d'Amboise, Christine Ebersole, Melissa Manchester, Tommy Tune, Benji Schwimmer (winner from the hit TV show "So You Think You Can Dance") and Ben Vereen with pecial appearances and performances by and artists from American Ballet Theatre, Atlanta Ballet, Ballet San Jose, Michael Cavanaugh, Dance Theatre of Harlem's Dancing Through Barriers Ensemble, Dancing Wheels, DP ONE, Miguel Frasconi, The Joffrey Ballet, KR3T'S, Kathleen Marshall, Elizabeth Parkinson, Parsons Dance, Keith Roberts, John Selya, Jason Samuels Smith, Mr. Wiggles, Wylliams/Henry Danse Theatre  plus more Stars and surprises.  As in the past, the Gala will feature some World Premieres especially created for the show.  Program & cast subject to change without notice.

The dress rehearsal will feature three production numbers:  Opening number 'Dance Rocks!' with World Cup All Star Cheerleading; "Mr. Wiggles"; Jason Samuel Smith and dozens of dancers; followed by KR3T'S and Benji Schwimmer
