The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has awarded Dad's Garage a $120,000 grant for operating costs. This fantastic financial commitment will be spread out over the next two years in $60,000 allotments.

These funds will contribute to all the operations that keep Dad's Garage in the business of making audiences laugh. Paying our electricity bill, keeping our grass trimmed, buying trash bags... there's a whole lot of behind-the-scenes work that helps keep those fart jokes flowing. Ticket sales only make up a third of the operating costs for Dad's Garage, so we rely on the generous support of organizations like The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.

Over the past few years, Dad's Garage has grown exponentially into a medium-sized arts organization, with a budget of approximately $1.3 million. The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta brings together several philanthropists to provide the support necessary for giving. The generous support from these donors, and The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, has enabled Dad's Garage to grow into the thriving theatre you see today.

Since 1951, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has been connecting the passions of philanthropists with the purposes of nonprofits doing that work. With 65 years serving the 23-county Atlanta region and a robust team of experts, the Community Foundation manages the behind-the-scenes details, empowering our donors to focus on the joy of giving. The Community Foundation is a top-20 community foundation nationally with approximately $900 million in current assets and is Georgia's second largest foundation. Through its quality services and innovative leadership on community issues, the Foundation received more than $113 million from donors in 2015 (unaudited) and distributed more than $139 million that same year to support nonprofits throughout the region and beyond. In 2016 Charity Navigator named the Community Foundation a four-star rated nonprofit, its top distinction. Founded in 1995, Dad's Garage Theatre Company has grown from a small volunteer led organization to a thriving mid-size theatre led by professional artistic and administrative staff that includes over 300 volunteers and performers. We now entertain more than 33,000 people each year in Atlanta, at public events across the state, and at improv festivals across the continent. In addition to outrageous original productions, Dad's Garage produces improv shows year-round, educates young improvisers in a high school outreach program, and facilitates classes and workshops for the general public.

Our Mission: Dad's Garage transforms people, communities, and perspectives through laughter.
