Colt Coeur's Play Hotel reading series will present a free staged reading of She Rode Horses Like the Stock Exchange by Amelia Roper, directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt, January 28th at 7pm at SoHo House in Manhattan. The cast for the reading includes McCaleb Burnett (Scarcity, Rattlestick), Katya Campbell (How to Make Friends and then Kill Them, Rattlestick), Zuzanna Szadkowski ("Gossip Girl"), and Matt Stadelmann (The Grown-Up, Humana). The event is hosted by Sam Goldberg and Julia Jones.

In a nice New England park, in a nice New England city, two nice New England couples try very, very hard to be nice to each other, while the world around them falls apart. An absurdly funny and terrifying ride through downsized, foreclosed America.

Colt Coeur (Everything is Ours, Recall, Fish Eye, Seven Minutes in Heaven) is a NY-based ensemble of actors, designers, playwrights and directors dedicated to making original, story-driven, aggressively visceral theater. Play Hotel is Colt Coeur's ongoing reading series, and their principal arena for developing new work. They are currently developing projects with Kaitlin Schuster and Jimmi Simpson. Previous Play Hotel readings have included: Adam Bock's Marcy Comes Homes, Clare Barron's a boy put this girl in a cage with a dog and the dog killed the girl, and Claire Kiechel's Umma Lappa Soon.

Amelia Roper is an Australian playwright currently writing for Yale Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Soho Rep's Writer/ Director Lab, Playwright's Realm and The Rose. She has an MFA from the Yale School of Drama (2013) where she studied under Paula Vogel, Sarah Ruhl and Jeanie O'Hare. She has worked in Australia, Russia, the Old Vic in London and has two published plays, BIG SKY TOWN and CAMBERWELL HOUSE. Scholarships and awards include the Cheryl Crawford Scholarship (Yale); the Howard Stein Scholarship (Yale); two Ian Potter Cultural Awards; two Australia Council for the Arts Grants and a Dame Joan Sutherland Cultural Award from the American Australian Association. Regional work includes Church (choreographer, Harbor Stage Company) and Three Days of Rain (Amphibian Stage, Texas) and three summers at Williamstown. Adrienne has directed workshops/readings for the Roundabout, Playwrights Horizons, The Civilians, LAByrinth, La Jolla Playhouse, South Coast Rep, the Orchard Project, Hartford Stage, New Georges & Clubbed Thumb. She is a recipient of a Jerome Foundation/Tofte Lake Fellowship, the EST/Sloan grant, a New Georges Affiliated Artist, and a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
